Project Story: The client wanted a sports and outdoor gym facility that

would help combat anti-social behaviour that that was a recurrent issue

on a MUGA (Multi-Use Games Area) that previously occupied the space.

Proludic’s solution was to bring together a variety of sports (in the form

of a MUSA – Multi-Use Sports Area) on a single tarmac pad, with

thermographic ground markings to enhance the play zones and improve

exercise value. The result is a colourful and inviting space where 60+

users of different ages and abilities can exercise alongside one another.

In addition to football and basketball, users can choose from over 20

different activities, including netball, trampolining, table tennis, dance,

pilates, and cricket. The MUSA thereby offers far more appeal than a

standard MUGA. The layout is designed to be open with as few visual

barriers as possible. By bringing together a wide range of activities in

a single space, the space encourages different age groups to exercise

together. This reduces the likelihood of anti-social behaviour and provides

a greater sense of shared responsibility and ownership to its users.
